The programme adds, that on that day the clergy of St. Etienne du Mont and St. Laurent will make a pilgrimage to St. Roch, which will be performed on Friday by the clergy of St. Wri, oh Saturday by the Rector of Vangimrd and the whole of the grand seminary of St. Sulpice, and on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, by the clergy of Notre Dame de Lorette, St. Etistache, and St. Me- dard.—Galionani's Messenger. A correspondent has called our attention to the declaration attributed to the Bishop of Exeter, that the clergy of the Church of England have the power of forgiving sin. It had not escaped our notice, but the statement was not sufficiently authenticated and distinct to justify

any comments upon it.

3/r. Tindal, brother of the Chief Justice of the Common Pleas, presided at the Tory dinner at Aylesbury the other day. This gentle. man recently obtained from Lord Melbourne the place of Chief Justice of Jersey, for his son-in-law, Sir Julio de Veulle. Lord Melbourne is rightly served for giving his patronage to a Tory.
