Ma. Harold Copping's Bible pictures are deservedly popular, not only

for their intrinsic beauty, but because of the peculiar fidelity of their local colour. In his new work, which the Religious Tract Society publish in a handsome quarto under the title of The Women of the Bible (25s.), Mr. Copping presents us with twenty-five scenic portraits of famous feminine -Biblical characters, from Hagar to Priscilla. The text is by Lord and Lady Aberdeen. Their notes are admirably done. That they were deemed necessary, reflects the modern reader's unfamiliarity with the great stories of
