CALICO PRINTERS.

The report of the Calico Printers' Association for the year ending last June shows some improvement, notwithstanding difficulties due to the coal shortage last year. The profit of 1860,000 compares with £856,000 for the previous year, but it may be recalled that the year previous there was a profit of no less than 11,332,000, due in part to a large sum resulting from the sale of the French works, and the balance of Reserve accumulated against a possible Exchange loss. In that bumper year a dividend of 15 per cent, was paid, of which 5 per cent. was indicated as having been paid directly from the special profits. The dividend is now 7,1 per cent.
