Colespeak

Sir: I am amazed at the continued onslaught on John Cole's speech. I love it; it is so unlike our local brand of north Somerset dialect, which, void of consonants, slurps out in a rush like a cowpat. Mr Cole's speech is audible and comprehensible, its speed is andante majestoso, and the deep, leisurely exploration of diphthongal nuances in his vowel sounds is one of the glories of the air.

The horrors are those with acceptable standard voices who presumably reflect the new education. A well-known broadcaster has spoken of 'Aysop's Fables' — and there are many more examples.
