The rape of Dartmoor

Sir: With our respects to the Dartmoor Preservation Association (Letters. 28 March), may we now throw some light on the other side of the picture?

The Curtisknowle and Woodcourt reser., voir sites are situated in the unspoilt valleys of the rivers Avon and Harbourne equal in beauty at any time of the year in our opinion and that of our friends and visitors to that of Swi ncom be.

Many acres of highly productive farmland, woods carpeted with snowdrops and wild daffodils, newly planted forestry, picturesque lanes and footpaths banked with primroses, campion and orchids and lastly the most im- portant factor of all its inhabitants with their homes and livelihoods living in these beauti- ful valleys which provide recreation and peace for those who are true country lovers. Should all this be submerged?
