The grace of God

From Mr Robert Triggs Sir: It is worth recording that Canon Brian Brindley, whose spectacular death at his

70th birthday party at the Athenaeum you described last week Mast supper', 11 August), held this splendid dinner two days short of his 70th birthday. In spite of the meticulous care that he undoubtedly devoted to the planning of the menu, guest list, William Morris invitations and choice of location, he may have overlooked one detail surprising in the highest of High Churchmen — the grace of God.
