The Old Manuscript. By Blanche Moggridge. (Religions Tract Society.)—The familiar

device of an old manuscript read by an old lady to her grand-daughters is employed to introduce a story of the troubles of the Huguenots in La Yend6e during the period which pre- ceded the accession of Henry IV. The principal character is a curd, who holds the Reformed doctrines, and finally declares himself to be a Protestant. There are various other interests, religious and secular, among which love, of coarse, is not forgotten, in the story, and the result is pleasing.
