From Ship's - boy to Skipper. By H. G. Moffat. (Alex. Gardner,

Paisley. 3s. 6d.)—" With variations," Mr. Moffat adds to his description of his career. He did not, indeed, go straight on from the beginning. He worked in a printing office before he embarked, and he left the sea for a time to dig gold. Still, he has seen much of life afloat, and his experiences may be read with pleasure. It would be interesting to read the book after one of Mr. Bullen's tales of the sea. Nothing could show us better how an artist works up his materials.
