Poor tyke Dobson

From Mr John R. Chapman

Sir: I was amazed to read Si6n Simon's remark suggesting Frank Dobson as the Greatest Living Yorkshireman (Restau- rants, 11 December).

I presume he had his tongue in his cheek when making such an assertion; if not, then he needs his head examining. Dobson wouldn't even make the top 1,000 York- shiremen. This failed politican (look at his atrocious local government record) hasn't lived in the county for decades — when did he last see Yorkshire playing at Headingley?

Also, what is a Welshman doing com- menting on Yorkshire affairs? He wants to mind his own business, otherwise I'll set Fred Trueman on him. I could suggest that Welsh nincompoop of a European Com- missioner as the Greatest Living Welsh- man, but even Mr Simon would realise that had to be a joke.
