Last night, a return was laid before Parliament, consisting of

"an account of the sums voted in Supply during each year from 1835 to 1842, both years inclusive, under the heads of Army, Navy, Ordnance, Commissariat, Canada, China, for Civil Contingencies, and for Mis- cellaneous Services." The total in the years 1835-6 is 14,123,2551.; and there is a progressive increase, until, in 1842-3, the total is 19,385,7631.; difference between the first and last year, 5,262,5081. The greatest increase is in the Navy, from 4,245,7231. to 6,739,318/. ; the next in the Ordnance, from 1,296,0591. to 2,084,5491.
