-- The hundred-and-thirteenth anniversary festival of the Madrigal Society was

held on Thursday. It was likewise the inauguration of Sir George Clerk in the office of President, to which he was lately elected on the death of the gallant veteran Lord Saltoun. The meeting was an excellent one : the musical Baronet filled the chair most ably ; and a fine selection of madrigals and part-songs was sung with remark- able precision and effect, the company including a larger than usual pro- portion of good and practised voices.
