LAND SETTLEMENT IN SOUTH AFRICA.

[1:0 TUE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR."]

notice in your article on "Land Settlement in South Africa" in the Spectator of January 11th you suggest I said 240,000 would be required for each farm. The sum I men- tioned for pastoral farms was 24,000.-1 am, Sir, tkc., [We greatly regret that by an unaccountable oversight, in referring to the sum mentioned by Mr. Rhodes, which was given correctly in the Spectator of December 21st, we misread £4,000 as £40,090.—ED.
