Economic Affairs Writer

up to 25200

The Reference Division of the Central Office of Information is a prime mover in the projection of Britain's image throughout the world. Its specialist researchers and writers are responsible for assembling factual material on every aspect of UK life and work, and for presenting it in terms which may be ieadily understood bya heterogeneous international readership.

Financial and economic affairs, both historical and current, represent a significant element of this information flow, and the position now available calls for someone with a good grasp of the subject — and, preferably, an appropriate degree. The job combines all aspects of information work, involving the analysis of complicated source material, interpretation for a mixed audience of economists and laymen, and the production of special responses to worldwide enquiries. Applicants must show a clear, accurate style of writing, maintained in the face of tight deadlines, and will be asked to submit examples of their work (not necessarily published).

The post carries a starting salary between £4400 and £5200, and there is a non-contributory pension scheme. Promotion prospects.
