Sin,—In your last week's article on "Unrest in India" you say of "the Mussulmans " that "their law is still the common law of the entire peninsula." May I ask in what matters Mohammedan law is the common law of all India P—I am, Sir, &e., M. S. H. [The words "common law" have, perhaps, too broad a meaning, but we certainly had the impression that under Indian legal practice any question not settled by the Codes, or by special statute, is decided by Mohammedan law.—En.
