FLOUR DUMPING.

At the meeting of Spillers, Ltd., held last Saturday, the Chairman, Sir Malcolm A. Robertson, was in the position of being able to present a thoroughly good balance sheet. At the same time, he told the shareholders that owing to the severe dumping on the market of imported flour the Directors had very reluctantly been compelled to close one of the two Glasgow mills acquired last year. This question of dumping imported flour here at prices below those at which the same flour was sold in the countries of origin had, he said, given much concern to the directors and to the National Association of British and Irish Millers, while farmers were keenly alive to the danger. Nevertheless, Sir Malcolm said that the Import Duties Advisory Committee, who had been approached for the second time for assistance, had declined to help.
