On the night of the 8th instant, three stables and

a cottage beloneing to AIL Deane, of May's farm, in Oxfordshire, were destroyed by tire, set to them wilfully. Sixteen horses and two men were in the stables; but the men were alarmed by the passengers of the Gloucester no.11, who first discovered the dames; and they rescued the horses, with some injury to themselves.

At the fire in Southampton, mentioned last week, many labouring persons present refused to give any assistance in rescuing the pel sons in the flaming buildings, until they had made a bargain to be paid for their exertions.
