The B.B.C.

The B.B.C.'s celebration of its tenth birthday this week was made the occasion of a visit from, and a broad- cast by, the Prince of Wales. Its record of achieve- ment during this first decade has been very much to its credit. Technical. progress has been rapid and continuous ; a monopoly has been wielded. wisely ; and on at least one occasion—during the :General Strike of 1926—indispensable services were rendered in a moment of crisis. The Corporation can be counted on to discharge its delicate and complex task with courage and imagina- tion. The degree to which it can exercise either depends largely on the success of its own efforts to broaden tho outlook and kindle the mind of a vast and varied public. As it is the wireless service given in this country will compare favourably with that provided in any other. •
