The Free-trade tendencies of the French Emperor are shown in a brief notification published yesterday by the lioniteur. The official journal states that the result of the inquiry into the state of French commerce, with the view of testing how far it would be prudent to remove all pro- hibitive duties, has decided the Emperor to postpone the abolition of those duties until the 1st of July 1861. "A measure in conformity with this determination has been promptly presented to the Council of State. French industry, apprized of the decided intentions of the Government, [prdvenue des Intentions bias arreties the Gouvernement,]will have all the time necessary to prepare for a new com- mercial regime."
