Harold Wilson on the TUC

Out of the week that shatters me, Black as the pitch from Poll to Poll, I cannot think the TUC Has played a very helpful role.

In the fell rush of conference

No arm was raised, no hand was stirred. Before the claims of common sense Their voice was bloody but unheard.

It matters not how great the crash,

How dire disaster at the poll, They are the boys who hold, the cash.

They are the captains of my soul.
