The Shortest Way with Trespassers

Sir: Are we to assume from your editorial comments (September 11) on the BBC's action in demoting Mr MacKenzie that employees of the BBC should be placed in the Privileged position of breaking the Corporation's rules without fear of disciplinary action? The BBC after all does make it a condition of service that employees engaged on editorial matters must submit any article or written material to themselves prior to submission for publication.

Over and above this can we really expect the BBC to disregard openly and vulgarly stated pre. judices on the part of those involved in the sensitive area of the dissemination of news?

For my part I consider it high time that the BBC took steps regarding some of their commentators and news service men Who would appear to place themselves above ordinary stan dards. . Martin Gilmour 92 Landsdowne Place, Hove, Sussex
