The Italians have pressed on beyond Gorizia, and are doing

well in all they attempt. One can almost see the upward leap of their spirits now that their reward for which they had so patiently worked with little apparent result has come at last. The total number of Austrian prisoners taken at Gorizia is now returned as 268 officers and 12,072 men. Since we wrote last week the Italians have reached Rosenthal, east of Gorizia, have crossed the Vallone, and captured an important hill on the northern edge of the Carso, where they took 800 prisoners, including twelve officers. Farther south they have occupied Dcbeli. The papers of Wed- nesday and Thursday announced that east of Gorizia and on the Carso they had taken more prisoners, amounting in all to almost exactly 2,000.
