The Basket of Flowers (Warne) is a tale translated from

the Ger- man, somewhat prosy, perhaps, bat with a genuine tone about it that makes it interesting. The traits of social life, those, for instance, that concern the distinctions of rank, are given with unconscious fidelity. The illustrations aro also, apparently, German ; whatever their source, they are, for th- most part, unaffected and pretty.
