Chapters on Flowers. By Charlotte Elizabeth. (Seeley and Co.) —These

"chapters" were worth disinterring from the pages of the extinct Lady's Magazine. The author, who was well known in certain circles in her days, and can hardly be yet forgotten, was a keen lover of nature, and was filled with a piety somewhat narrow, perhaps, but pure and ardent. This volume is the outcome of these gifts and qualities. Their seriousness, too, is just tinged now and then with a delicate humour. The illustrations, sixteen in number, are well drawn and pleasantly coloured.
