SOME BOOKS OF THE WEEK.

[Under this heading ice notice such Books of the week as have not been reserved for review in other forms.] Benjamin Franklin. By Joseph D. Choate. (Harrison and Sons.) — Here we have an address delivered some two months ago to the Birmingham and Midland Institute, which has the honour and advantage of having the American Am- bassador for its President. It is marked by the tact and good taste which seem invariably to be found in the utterances of those who have from time to time represented the United States in this country. Franklin's character is admirably portrayed; we see how he would have served this country if our rulers had only permitted him to do it.
