Pratiquant, Croyant

I like the senses. Unusual in this climate. Liking, not being hectic, excessive, about indulgence, rejection, repression, perversion.

Helped by living abroad. Learning from Africans I liked and loved, respected, about life. About reality's compensations as well as poverties and sadnesses. But that was not the basis.

The beginning was in being Catholic with European rather than Irish links. Not puritan. Even anti-puritan. Hedonistic about creation. Believing in beauty. Art, food, style, books. Practising every day such things in a spirit of gratitude, appreciation, prayer.

I was brought up, educated, to these ways. These truths. Such life. Still, for all life's knocks I love things. Created things. My God in them. Through the senses. You too in your senses. Loving. Liking.
