Saluting Yvonne Printemps

Sir: I have just read, rather late, my friend Mr Hope-Wallace's charming account of the late Yvonne Prin temps (29 January). In other reports of her death I looked in vain for any mention of what I believe was the last work in which she and her then husband Sacha Guitry played together— Marlette. I am so glad to see that Mr Hope-Wallace extols that enchanting performance, whose music was one of Oscar Straus's masterpieces. i went repeatedly to see and hear this exquisite production, which remains vividly in my memory.

Obviously no one can recapture exactly the special quality of the Guitrys' presentation, nonetheless I am one—and I am sure there are many others—who would rejoice to witness a revival of this delightful operetta.
