Not up to politicians

From Antony Dew

Sir: Thank you for printing the letter from Matthew Richards (5 February). I was beginning to think that I was the only person who, having voted Conservative in every election, national and local, for the past 40 years, was having serious doubts about continuing to do so. Surely no Conservative can support an increase in government control over anything. One of the signs of a civilised country is that it is unafraid to open its borders to anyone who wishes to enter, and to have politicians and civil servants deciding who should or should not be admitted is utterly repulsive.
