No news of importance has been received this week from

the Far East, though the two divisions of the Japanese Army have combined after taking Kaiphing, and are now ready for the attack on Nenchang. It is believed that the Japanese do not expect to enter Pekin until April, being impeded by snow and by a multitude of invalids. The negotiations for peace do not appear to be sincere on either side, the Japanese wishing for a more complete triumph ; while the Chinese still think that the immense forces now cantoned between Manchuria and the capital, -must be able to arrest the Japanese advance.
