Sir: It is possible for surviving relatives of men in the Fifth Army to feel put out by Sir Denis Brogan's article of 15 December. One English county battalion died where it stood, and the • bodies were never traced. That is what I know, and what matters.

The one thing certain is that the Fifth Army and its commander were shabbily treated by Lloyd George and Milner.
