SATURDAY NIGHT.

The not unexpected death of Earl Grey took place on Thursday even- ing, at Howick House, his seat in Northumberland. It is well known that the Earl's health had for a considerable time precluded all hope of his regaining strength; and within the week the worst fears were renewed; so that Lord Howick left town to attend upon the last hours of his venerable parent. Earl Grey expired without pain, in the presence of his wife; who had watched unremittingly throughout his illness. The Earl was born in March 1764, and was therefore in his eighty-second year. At present we have neither time nor space for any review of his long public life: suffice it to say, that he departs with the regret and respect of all parties. His decease leaves a vacancy in the order of the Garter; and Lord Howick's succession to the Earldom occasions a vacancy in the representation of Sunderland.
