Sat,—Private Atkins is singularly fortunate. I served for four years in the O.T.C. and took a first-class University degree ; but for the last four months I have been engaged on clerical work of the most elementary kind in an Army Pay Office. I have not sought a com- mission: only the privilege of fighting for my country. And this has been denied me twice.—Your obedient servant, PRIVATE ATKINS II.
