Some weeks ago, by a most remarkable co- incidence, two

golfers, both trained Edward Chapman, on the same course, on the same day, holed out in one at 210 and 190 yards distance. Competitors are invited to comment on this• oc- casion in a short poem, somewhat as W. H. Davies celebrated the coincidence of a rainbow and a cuckoo's song, in the poem entitled 'A Great Time' (though not necessarily in Davies's manner). Limit: twelve lines. Prize money: six guineas.

Entries addressed 'Spectator Competition No. 388,' 99 Gower Street, London, WCI, by July 30. Results on August 9.
