THE CALL OF THE CUCKOO.

[To THE EDITOR OF TUB "'SPECTATOR."] was staying recently for ten days in the neighbourhood of Etaples, and during the whole time the call of the cuckoo was almost unceasing during daylight. Occasionally there were two calling at the same time. On one day when the cuckoo was calling within three or four hundred yards of me I distinctly heard the "triple call" described by " E. P." in your last issue. This lasted for only a few minutes, and the bird then reverted to its usual call. There was not at that tune within my hearing any answering call.—I am, Sir, &c., R.
