Back bench Labour members were in a very truculent and

irresponsible mood on Wednesday afternoon at question time. Perhaps the most foolish point was that raised by Mr. Ellis Smith who fiercely criticised the recent meeting at a private house of Sir Edward Ellington and Herr von Ribbentrop. He was not in the least mollified by the statement of the Prime Minister that he thought that " in the present state of Europe all these social and friendly meetings are very desirable."
