At the same time, a favourable development to note of the past week has been the result of the German Presidential Election, as, presumably, the ultimate election of President Hindenburg is now a foregone conclusion. Nor is the factor of cheap money to be ignored, while there can be no :question that is 'drawing closer together of France and Germany with some prospect of the reparation problem being settled in June, should have ar stimulating effect upon lonfidetice and upon markets. Fortunately, too, the Far Eastern situation has given some signs of improvement during the last fortnight.
