Sir: It is the har: lot of bachelors who have

been unlucky in love to be labelled as homosexuals or worse by people like Mr Watkins (May 12). Mr Harvey can answer for himself, but insofar as Mr Watkins implies that bachelors have ambitions which are purely selfish, I can assure him that his remarks are bitterly resented. The lonely and the sexually frustrated require sympathy and understanding, not condemnation; and this they are unlikely to get from Mr Watkins and his tribe of happily married nincompoops, who think only of themselves and their families and little or nothing of the needs of society as a whole.
