The quarterly meeting of the Commission of the General Assembly

took place on Wednesday. There was comparatively little discussion ; the only business of importance being a motion to memorialize her Ma- jesty's Government for redress, in reference to the collision between the Civil and Ecclesiastical jurisdictions.-Caledonian Mercury, Nov. 17.

Last night's Gazette states that the Queen has granted the place of one of the Lords of Session, in Scotland, to Alexander Wood, Esq., Dean of Faculty, in the room of Adam Gillies, Esq., resigned. The office of Dean of the Faculty of Advocates, vacated by Mr. Wood, will, it is said, be conferred on Mr. Patrick Robertson.
