If the Montenegrins can capture that or drive the Turks from it, they will have achieved a most notable success. The small- ness of their numbers, however, would make it unwise for them to penetrate too far into Turkish Albania and thus to spread their butter too thin. On the north the Montenegrins have had another considerable success. On Wednesday Berme, a town close to the border of the Sanjak of Novi Bazar, was stormed, and some 2,000 prisoners, twelve Krupp field guns, and a large quantity of ammunition were taken. Unfortunately for the mountaineers, 7,000 Turkish troops were able to march out before the mountaineers could get in. Touching scenes, we are told, were witnessed when the troops entered the town, the whole population turning out to welcome their deliverers.
