Indian Rumours Curious reports have been published during the week

about the intentions of the Government in regard to India. It has been said that Mr. Wedgwood Benn will visit India as a kind of Special Commissioner, and that the Government will soon make a statement to the effect that, though Dominion government cannot be granted to India immediately, it will be granted within a fixed period. We do not know how such rumours come into existence, but we cannot believe that the Government will really do anything behind the back of the Simon Commission. The Labour Party, equally with the other Parties, agreed to' the appointment of the Commission and to the definition of its functions.
