The Rochester Diocesan Directory. (Wells Gardner, Darton, and Co.)—This is

a volume on which the only possible criticism, of an adverse kind, is that it is too good at the price, which we may say is ls. 6d. net. We do not, indeed, see anything in it that is superfluous. But the editor complains that it does not meet with adequate support. The only course is to cut down contents and price. The account of the personnel of the diocese, the institutions in the way of societies, &c., the benefices and other essential matters, might be retained, and the price reduced by a half, though, indeed, it is not a formidable sum as it is, But and outlay on a book seems objectionable to the average Englishman.
