Easily deceived

Sir: In answer to A.E. Dale (Letters, 5 September), I had no real suspicion that my table at the Ecu de France was bugged, even though I knew that my home tele- phone number was. That is why I am including the story in a book about human credulity — as evidence that the easiest person to deceive is oneself.
