Sra,—I think many of your readers would be glad to avail themselves of an opportunity to visit the Exhibition of Slovak Works of Art that is now on view at the Dore Galleries in Bond Street. The objects exhibited include both pictures and sculptures, as well as-pieces of pottery and embroidery. In each of these various forms the same characteristics of the Slovak temperament are most effectively displayed. The love of gay colours and striking designs expresses itself equally in M. Joseph 13prka's vivid paintings and in the simplest of the peasant costumes ; and many of those who look at the brilliant representations of Slovak processions and ceremonials given by the artists in this exhibition, will long for an oppor- tunity of making the acquaintance of the actual scenes which they represent, and of the country which has inspired them But in any case no one who feels sympathetic to the aspire. lions of the Slovak race could fail to be interested by these proofs of the important position which Slovak art is likely to occupy in the immediate future.—I am, Sir, &o., X.
