Sir Edward Carson, who followed Mr. Long, though extremely critical,

nay, condemnatory, of the Government, refused, we are glad, though not in the least surprised, to see, to have anything to do with the infamous attacks upon Lord Derby. On the contrary, he declared that not only had Lord Derby by undertaking his scheme done a great service to the State, but had carried out everything he promised to do. "Let us," he added, "for' Heaven's sake give up attaoking individuals in relation to these matters who are doing easrvice to the State, and doing the beat' they -can for the'country."
