A very melancholy accident happened on Wednesday night, between eight

and nine o'clock, on Holkham Sands. The Earl of Leicester, accompanied by F. Ast- ley, Esq., were amusing themselves at Draughtsea, when the tide, which was flow- ing fast, surrounded them before they were aware of it. The Earl and Mr. Astley, being both able swimmers, managed to reach the shore in safety, although much exhausted; having endeavoured to save a young man (servant to Mr. Astley) who was with them, but unfortunately without success. The Messrs. Bump, and Mc. Young, surgeons, of Wells, were promptly on the spot, and used the most un- remitting exertions to restore life; but, unhappily, every means failed. We under- stand the poor young man, thus so suddenly cut off, has left a widow and family. —Lynn Advertiser.
