Sir: For months now I have looked in vain for a letter in praise of Austin's cartoons. Worse, the occasional references in your correspondence columns have been mea- sured and solemn, lightened only by one characteristically droll response from the cartoonist.

Surely I am not alone in thinking that it is worth buying the Spectator for Austin's irreverent, inventive drawings alone.
