Demerara papers, dated the 13th of October, mention the pre-

valence of a bad spirit among the Negroes. The labourers in the most fertile districts had given notice of their intention to aban- don their work, and seek the means of support elsewhere. A pro- clamation had been issued by the Governor of British Guiana, offering premiums for the importation of agricultural labourers.
