* * * * The Government of Dr. Stresemann has

fallen, and his last speech to the Reichstag, on Thursday, November 22nd, was made under police. protection, ()Wing to the threats of the Communists. As the author of the speech is no longer able to apply his principles, it would be useless to examine his long summary of the situation. The next day the Reichstag, after di rasing Dr. Strcsemann's statement, voted on the motion of confi- dence, with the result that the Government was defeated by a majority of seventy-five. The Natioralists, Socialists and Communists formed the majority ; time German People's Party, the Centre and Den•ourats supported the Government. The I3avarians abstained. Dr. Stresemann immediately visited President Ebert and resigned with his whole Cabinet.
