J'aime Brahms

Sir: What has happened to Mr Mortimer (to whom I am devoted)? He writes that Mozart produced works that are unforgettably erotic (true), but that Brahms seems dull. Has Mr Mortimer listened to Brahms's 1st Piano Concerto lately? When I first knew this work I was convinced that he wrote it whilst in love with Clara Schumann. I later discovered that it was written at the time of Robert Schumann's admission to an asylum. However you interpret this fact it still seems to me the most poignant love song ever written — and deeply erotic.
