Public asset

Sir: I have read much recently about confrontation between mine workers and their employers and now a Consumers' Council appears to have entered the dis- pute. Surely the time has come when the mines should be nationalised and a board appointed by the Government to run the mines on behalf of the country and its people as a whole. Or. perhaps we could cash in on the superior knowledge of the bishops and give to each diocese the mines in its area?
