Sir: Many years ago 1 was invited to subscribe to a debenture issue, in order to maintain the integrity of The Spectator, and in exchange I was given a Life Membership for myself and son. Unfortunately I have no son, but a daughter, Marcia, aged ten years, to whom I would suggest this membership Might perhaps be transferred, after my demise, to maintain her interest, if you would be so kind.
Meanwhile may I congratulate you on the excellent manner in which this integrity has been maintained, and over the quality of the articles, over the past few years I find greatly improved.

Our records show that Mr Goodwin took up his life subscription in May 1923 at a cost of fifteen guineas when he was aged thirty-six. We wish him many more years' pleasure with The Spectator though, perhaps fortunately for The Spectator, there was no reversion of life subscription rights to either a son or a daughter.—Editor
